Hello My Friend,

I was walking off the stage. Goosebumps standing off my arms and the back of my neck. I had just given a talk in a sold out arena as a featured guest on the largest business seminar tour in the world.

(In fact, I spoke to over 1 million people during my time on that tour.)

Still feeling the buzz from the stage I headed into the green room. Waiting for me was the CEO of the event company. He said, “You know, you’re the only guy on this tour who actually got rich from this business. Everyone else is broke. You should figure out how to bottle what you do.”

I was shocked.

You see, this was a star-studded tour. If I mentioned any other name I shared the stage with, you would know who they are. You might even have one of their books on your shelf.

Fact of the matter is, most authors, speakers & coaches don’t make much money. You see a mansion, a jet, a Lambo and even a group of models on their YouTube or social media…it’s all rented for the camera.

Few have hit their financial goals in this industry. At best, they’re all living off of credit cards. I know. That’s what I used to do. Racked up $180,000 in credit card debt pretending to be a name as an author, speaker or coach.

I was cold-calling for gigs, stapling booklets together on my kitchen table and too scared to ask clients for a few hundred bucks for annual coaching.

I’ve done the pretend thing. And it sucks!

After the show one night on finishing up the last leg of the speaking tour, these same household names and I went out to dinner afterwards. It was our ritual.

However, this time was different. I ordered my usual surf & turf, but all the other guys were ordering an appetizer or a salad with just water to drink.

“What’s the matter? You guys aren’t hungry tonight? What’s going on?” I asked. They said, no, the promoter was paying for those meals before. This one is coming out of our own pocket.

(QUICK TIP:  that’s a quick way not to be invited back to speak. Eat how you eat and be willing to pay if necessary. Anything else is unethical.)

We were speaking on stage in front of five to 10,000 people a night and these guys still couldn’t afford dinner!

My friend, if I could build a 7-figure business in this industry, anyone can. I failed Kindergarten, yet I’m a best-selling author having written over 12 books. I used to be so scared to talk to people that I let the phone company overcharge me $200 each bill for months because I was too anxious to call them to fix it. Yet, I’ve regularly spoken in front of thousands of people over 300 nights a year.

Today, my private clients pay me $120,000 a year retainer for coaching and consulting services. In fact, I have one client who pays me $80,000 and has NEVER asked for anything. I tried to give him his money back and he said, “Knowing you’re in my corner is all I need.”

Imagine…

What would having these same skills do for you? (And make no mistake, these are all LEARNED skills.)

Would you finally hit your financial goals? Your income target? Your ideal working schedule? Travel the world? Give to your church? Make a deeper impact in the lives of others?

Whichever the case, you can do this too. I overheard a movie quote the other day. The actress said, “Honey, you don't become a star. Either you are one or you ain't.” Nothing and I mean NOTHING can be further from the truth!

That is the mindset of the working poor.

Whether your next goal is to hit $83K a year or $83K a month as an author, speaker & coach, let me be clear. It isn’t about being born with the right “stuff” or “it-factor”. I certainly didn’t have it. Succeeding in the expert industry comes down to getting around the right PEOPLE and having the right SYSTEMS in place.

That’s it. No BIG secret here. No grand conspiracy.

If you’re not succeeding right now as an author, speaker or coach it’s simply because you’re not around the right people and you haven’t implemented the right system.
